The Dimensions of Academic Language and Strategies for Integrating Into Instruction and Assessment

Teachers will receive evidence-based strategies and share ideas on strengthening academic language within the classroom. We will explore the dimensions of academic language and their impact on teaching and learning. For example, we will discuss how to build metalinguistic awareness, sociocultural awareness and metacognitive awareness in the classroom with the ultimate goal of implementing a culturally responsive curriculum schoolwide. This workshop content will be beneficial for ESL/Bilingual Teachers, Dual Language Teachers or General Education Teachers who would like to learn more about how to support their bilingual and/or dual language learners.
