Teaching Approaches to Develop Biliterate Reading:Teacher-led small groups & Independent Reading

 

The goals of this session are to explore how to address specific students’ needs with regard to reading skills, comprehension strategies and interest in a dual language classroom setting, English-Spanish.   Teachers will have an opportunity to explore suggestions for implementation of independent reading and orient to the biliterate reading zones.  Escamilla et al (2014) Biliteracy from the Start: Literacy Squared will be among the primary tools leveraged in this series as well other research-based resources.
