Supporting Newcomers in Dual Language Classrooms

 Our Dual Language classrooms are currently experiencing increasing numbers of newcomer students. During this session we will

  • Examine the rise of Spanish speaking newcomer students and their placements in various program models
  • Consider ideas for welcoming and supporting new students in Dual Language classrooms
  • Explore ways to support students’ literacy, oracy, and content development in Spanish and English in Dual Language settings
