Analyzing Student Writing with a Language Lens
In this workshop, participants will dig deeper into WIDA’s Writing Rubric and the ACCESS for ELLs Writing Scoring Scale to help support the understanding of writing expectations with a language proficiency level lens. Participants will be able to analyze student writing with a language lens and learn about ways they can apply success criteria, expected language use, and student-goal setting to enhance student writing instruction.
Essential Questions:
- How can WIDA’s Writing Rubric and the ACCESS for ELLs Writing Scoring Scale help support the understanding of writing expectations in language development?
- In what ways can we use success criteria, expected language use, and student goal-setting to enhance student writing instruction in the area of language development?
Target Audience: 3-8 English Language Arts Multilingual Teacher Leaders and Multilingual Teachers
