Teaching Approaches to Develop Biliterate Reading: Shared Reading & Collaborative Reading

The goals of this session are to orient to the recommendations for implementing shared reading in a dual language classroom setting: during  Spanish literacy and literacy based English Language Development.  Teachers will have an opportunity to deepen their understanding of comprehension strategies and literacy skills within the content of the whole-group instruction. We will review comprehension strategies and prompts for language support. Escamilla et al (2014) Biliteracy from the Start: Literacy Squared will be among the primary tools leveraged in this series as well other research-based resources.
