Learning In-between Languages and Cultures: Using Trade Books to Support Bilingual Learning
Together we will:
- Explore a variety of bilingual, multilingual, multicultural, and metalinguistically-focused trade books and analyze the potential for each type of book to support bilingual development
- Examine how to use trade books to raise students’ metalinguistic awareness, guide cross-linguistic and cross-cultural connections, and develop language and literacy through a translanguaging lens
- Identify texts to build your library and cultivate a multilingual ecology to support and affirm language learning the school community
