Becoming Multilingual Champions

a free school community PD series facilitated by IRC Specialists Adelicia Brienzo and Carly Spina

We know that everyone in our school communities has an important role to play in affirming and supporting our multilingual learners. At the Illinois Resource Center, we want to get out of our bilingual/EL silos and ensure that everyone, from front office staff to paraprofessionals to parents, is empowered with the resources they need to create a welcoming, compassionate school environment for multilingual learners.

That’s why IRC Specialists Carly Spina and Adelicia Brienzo created Becoming Multilingual Champions, a free webinar series dedicated to empowering school staff with the tools and strategies they need to support our multilingual students. Throughout the 2026-27 school year, they will be offering virtual sessions geared toward different sectors of our school community, including front office staff, paraprofessionals, parent-teacher associations and educators who work with students with disabilities. Together, we can create the next class of multilingual champions.

Stay tuned for information about future offerings.
